Eight power bank recalls in the past year: the model numbers to check before you pack one

CPSC posted eight power bank recalls between November 13, 2025 and October 29, 2026, the newest the HAIARA W5 PRO with 600 reported fire and thermal incidents. The brands, the model numbers, and how to get rid of a recalled one without starting a fire in a dumpster.

If a power bank lives in your glovebox, tent pocket or day pack, check it against this list before your next trip. The Consumer Product Safety Commission posted eight power bank recalls between November 13, 2025 and October 29, 2026. We found them by searching every recall in CPSC’s recall database for that window on November 1, 2026, then reading each notice on cpsc.gov.

The newest is the worst by incident count. On October 29, CPSC and the seller recalled about 11,000 HAIARA W5 PRO power banks after 600 reports of fire and other thermal incidents, including three burn injuries.

The Super Off-Road one is the easiest to miss. It’s the only solar unit on the list, and CPSC says it was “given away as promotional items by various companies,” so you may own one without remembering where it came from.

The catch

Three of these recalls turn on a detail, not the model. The HAIARA recall covers only units with no date code, the VEEKTOMX recall only units with no serial number, and the INIU recall only four serial batches. Read the label rather than assuming yours is in or out. The INIU recall is the biggest here, about 210,000 units, but it covers only those batches.

This list is power banks only. The Goal Zero Yeti 3000X power station recall is a separate case with a firmware fix.

What to do

  1. If yours matches, stop using it. Every notice says that.
  2. File the claim. Seven of the eight remedies are refunds, and several ask for a photo of the unit with “recalled” written on it in permanent marker. VEEKTOMX sends a replacement. Contacts are on each CPSC page linked above.
  3. Don’t drop it in a campground dumpster. CPSC’s notices say a recalled lithium-ion battery doesn’t go in the trash, in curbside recycling, or in the battery boxes at hardware stores. Call your municipal household hazardous waste center first and ask whether it takes recalled lithium-ion.

If you’re replacing it with something bigger for camp, our power station guide covers sizing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my HAIARA power bank is recalled?

The recall covers the black HAIARA W5 PRO with 20W printed on the front and Model: W5 PRO on the side, sold on Amazon by Mitrytech from May 2025 through September 2026. It applies only to units with no YYYYMMDD date code printed on the side. Source: CPSC recall 27-056, October 29, 2026, read November 1, 2026.

Can I throw a recalled power bank in the trash?

No. CPSC's recall notices say not to put a recalled lithium-ion battery in the trash, in curbside recycling, or in the used battery boxes at retail and home improvement stores. Call your municipal household hazardous waste center first and ask whether it takes recalled lithium-ion batteries.

Is the Goal Zero Yeti 3000X on this list?

No. It's a 92-pound power station, not a power bank, and its August 20, 2026 recall remedy is a free firmware update rather than a refund. We covered it separately.
